Don't worry, the writing salon is meant to guide you towards earning an "A" for your hard work. Every time.

The Library will give you a strong foundation to your composition, including the start of your literature review. Continue to build on your writing knowledge by exploring this page. Start by reviewing the following guide(s)

The APA Manual - 7th Edition

As many of you know, there is a new 7th edition of the APA manual that has been released in 2019. In the ENMU nursing program, we are currently transitioning from requirement of the old 6th edition to the new 7th edition APA Manual Student edition. We are having new students purchase the 7th Edition Concise Guide to APA Style – The Official APA Style Guide for Students which began in this Fall 2020 semester. This new APA Student Manual is geared more specifically for use by students, such as those in both our BSN and MSN programs. It should be a very useful tool, and is clearer and more understandable regarding expectations for student papers. The deadline for being fully switched over to the 7th edition is Fall 2021, at which time we will require all students to follow the rules of the 7th edition APA manual.

A few of the major changes include:

  • Formatting of the Title Page, Body, and Sections
  • Running head is not required, unless requested by your instructor
  • Font guidelines are more flexible
  • An abstract is not required, unless requested by your instructor.

Review a summary of the changes HERE. . If you have any questions, please reach out to your instructors for further clarification.

APA Format and Tips

We have created additional guidelines for using APA standards in your writing. These documents are still great tips that you can currently use.
