Hispanic Serving Institute (HSI):  requires applicants to have an undergraduate full-time equivalent enrollment that is at least 25 percent Hispanic at the end of the award year immediately preceding the date of application.
ENMU is eligible for Title III, and Title V. ENMU is also eligible for Title III, Part F, HSI STEM grants  (20 U.S.C. s 1067q(2)(B).

The designation of HSI also designates ENMU as a Minority-Serving Institution

Eligibility Designations/Matrix: Institutions are eligible to apply for grants if they meet specific statutory and regulatory eligibility requirements. An institution of higher education (IHE) that is designated as an eligible institution may also receive a waiver of certain non-Federal cost-sharing requirements for one year. ENMU does not qualify for the following designations:

Minority Institution (MI): enrollment of a single minority or a combination of minorities exceeds 50 percent of the total enrollment.     Based on IPEDS Spring 2007 survey (Fall enrollment 2006), ENMU is not listed as a minority institution.  U.S. Department of Education list of Minority Institutions
