Each individual program at the undergraduate and graduate levels have developed Effectiveness Plans based on the goals and processes of program assessment. The program learner outcomes are the heart of the Effectiveness Plan. These are aligned with the Strategic Plan of the University and Academic Affairs. Faculty of each program identified learning outcomes. These outcomes are the knowledge, skills, dispositions, and content that graduates of each program should master upon completion of the program.
For the teacher education programs, the learning outcomes were related to teaching competencies written by the New Mexico education department and InTASC standards. For all programs, standards from learned societies and/or national standards from the discipline were used. Once program faculty members articulated the learning outcomes, the faculty then developed the assessment measures, data collection points, and performance criteria for each program learning outcome. Rubrics were for all classroom-based assessment measures that require scoring. A 4-point scale is used on all rubrics.
